About Us

At the Mathematical Sciences Department, we see our students not just as learners, but as change-makers who are equipped to use mathematical thinking to uplift their communities and shape a better future.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the six (6) departments under the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology (FAST) of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU). The department now offers a 4-year degree programme in Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Applied Mathematics. The department services most of the academic departments at the University with engineering mathematics, numerical methods, differential equations, calculus, linear algebra, complex analysis and all mathematics related courses.

Among other things, the Department aims at providing a sound understanding of basic and advanced concepts in the courses we teach. The Department exposes students to the rationale underpinning mathematics usage to handle both theoretical and practical problems. This equips students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling them to apply mathematical knowledge effectively in various fields such as engineering, finance, and technology. The department also emphasizes research and innovation to address real-world challenges.

Dedicated and highly qualified staff are the hallmarks of the department. There are currently seven (7) full-time teaching staff, of which three (3) are Senior Lecturers and four (4) are Lecturers. We are fortunate to have one efficient Junior Assistant Registrar. There are twenty-two (22) part-time lecturers supporting the department.
